Platipus Records has had an amazing history. For the past two decades, its delivered many an epic track and remix. Now, in the dawn of its third decade, the label celebrates its anniversary with 12 vinyl releases throughout 2024 and an epic 4xCD compilation at the tail end of the year. The anniversary begins with Mariana by label boss Art Of Trance.
Beneath the surface is a juddering acidic bass-line which meanders in the depths. Aspects of Art Of Trance's sonic arsenal make their presence felt in a track that is undeniably deep and sonorous. This is melodic trance of the highest possible standard and cements just why Platipus are much-loved.
On the flip, we have Torsten Fassbender, returning for another remix after his take on A Time Before Time. The veteran constructs a modular remix that is every bit as melodic as the original mix. This is somewhat darker, I feel, as it hurtles ever further into unexplored depths. This is trance perfected. And no frills.
