Nick Sentience and V.J. FX

» Universal Language

Label: Quality Trax
Format: 2 x CD
Genre: Trance / Tech / Hard Trance

After 18 months, Nick Sentience and V.J. FX's magnum opus comes to fruition in the form of Universal Language, a double pack DVD / CD combination with Nick providing the soundtrack and V.J. FX. the visual accompaniment.

As opposed to the keenly focussed hard dance emphasis of BK's artist album, this is a seamless progression encompassing the full music spectrum from chillout to trance through breakbeat and taking you right into the hard driving stuff towards the end.

Amongst the many standout tracks for us was the spine-tingling beauty of the breakbeat led trance anthem Bliss. For a hard dance clubber the unfamiliarity of the beat pattern making it all the more interesting to hear and it was quite a sight watching a packed Camden Palace try to dance to this as it dropped during Nick and V.J.'s recent PA at Heat Smile

The murderous bassline of another of our firm favourites, Essence, kick starts the harder edged section of the audio track. Following on from this, the collaboration of Phil Reynolds, James Lawson and Nick Sentience on the epic Imaginate is as good as you'd expect with that kind of production pedigree behind it and keeps this section of the DVD kicking along superbly.

The climactic Afrotekno will shortly become the first release on Nick's new Quality Trax label and it's been devastating dancefloors wherever Nick has been playing in the last 6 months. It will be for many the highlight of the DVD and sets the natural peak for the DVD with Moonshadow bringing you down gently to rest as it draws the soundtrack to a close.

Throughout the DVD the visuals are never less than excellent, with a different theme and set of animations for each track and with unreal dancing from Kane and the LAK:UK crew mapped into the screen, it's something you'll never get tired of gazing at.

This package is absolutely perfect as either something with which to wind yourself up for the night ahead, or to kick off that crack on as you return home from the club in the morning - don't worry, it's already been thoroughly road-tested in this respect by our household Wink

If you're a clubber and you love music (and if not then wtf are you doing on this site!) then this is practically a must have item as the brightest star on the UK's hard dance scene demonstrates a triumphal return to form. Unhesitatingly recommended Thumbs up
