It’s Requiem time once again, and it’s no ordinary Requiem. It’s the 12 hour 1st birthday bash! I can’t quite believe we are one already. There was only one thing to be done for the birthday, and that is put on the sickest Hard House line-up the 414 has seen, certainly since I’ve been going. Rather just the one headliner, you could even say we have ALL headliners. Every DJ is massively respected in the scene all over the country.
Topping the bill is none other than Trade, Tidy and Vicious Circle legend Ian M. Responsible for some of the most unique and uniquely brilliant tunes we have ever seen, Ian’s sets are perfect mish-mash of new and old – he always chucks in a tune or two you really weren’t expecting. He’s also been in the studio again recently with Karl Davis, and the results are rather good to say the least.
Hi son Adam M (not really) is making the trip down from Leeds once again with one of the very best up-and-coming DJs (and female no less!) – JoJo. Recently signed to Red Management, Adam has the world at his feet and is slowly but surely gaining a reputation for being one of the best technical DJs out there. JoJo’s skills are very much in the same vein, and with her finding her footing in the studio, the future is just as bright as Adam’s for her.
The two members of the live act AudioPunkt are also here – Irish superstar Karl Davis, owner of Pure NRG and co-owner of Hard Sounds, and Igloo Wax boss Frank Farrell, the transient electro fetishist who has lost none of his Hard House nous. Both these sets will be filled to the brim with brand new material, cheeky reworks, and if you’re lucky, the odd can of Red Stripe.
Combat Records owner Chris Comben, one of the original Requiem promoters, makes a return to warm up the dancefloor as only he can. There are many who can play a set of funky/chunky tracks, but there are few who seem to be able to do as well as Chris. Requiem promoter and FlashPoint DJ Dave Curtis will be playing a one off classics set, seeing as he’s been dying to do one for f*cking ages.
Finally but probably more importantly than most in this essay, the London contingent is represented by Skol, who blew me away last time when him and Roosta smashed it with their classics set. All on vinyl as well. Not often you see that… The future of the London scene is represented by two DJs and friends who hold residencies in the capital and are gaining more and more fans every day – Kevsey D and Aaron James. They will be playing two sets – early and late – to show just what they can do!!
Now the prices have gone up since last time… but you are getting an afterparty as well, and the lineup I think you will agree warrants it. I’ve seen worse lineups going for £20 before. So cough and get your arses down to the 414!!
