With a pulsating month of events that has seen The Gallery’s newest resident Sander Van Doorn reign supreme by playing every Friday night in April… the time has sadly come for us to say goodbye to the flying Dutchman, as he makes his final appearance (for now anyway!) at the huge end-of-the-month Gallery Residents Special on Friday 27th April. It’s nice to give our beloved residents a pat on the back every once in a while, after all, without a clubs resident djs there is no club!! Here at Gallery HQ, we’ve produced and nurtured some of the best in the business over the past decade… from Tall Paul, Sister Bliss and Lottie, to Fergie, Gavyn Mytchel, Nic Fanciulli and now Sander Van Doorn. All this lot have many a classic Gallery tale to tell and the biggest DJ of them all (literally!) Tall Paul will headline this week’s special event… just like he first did way back in 1995 when The Gallery first launched. With the 12th Birthday around the corner now, it’s a wonderful sight to see Tall Paul still ramming them in and rocking it up on dancefloors all over the globe. As a die-hard Gallery devotee he’s seen the club grow into the beast that it is today, and he’s very proud to still be very much at the thick of the action. The man behind Discover Records – The Gallery’s very own swash-buckling star, John Askew naturally joins in on the action, as does 12 year ressie Steve Lee who makes his first appearance in the main room for nearly 2 years. As Steve’s sound progressed to a more housey groove, he uprooted to T2 party to host monthly party Joy, instead of finishing up in the main room (like he did for the best part of a decade!!) Now a fully qualified London cabbie, Steve steps back in time for one night only, which will no doubt see the old faithful out in force to witness the odd Gallery anthem. ‘Yeke Yeke’ anyone??!! Gallery superstar Gavyn Mytchel will also provide more main room firepower, with John Bentley – a recent winner of The Gallery DJ Comp filling the early slot.
Residents aside… T2 this week witnesses a rare outing on these shores from two thirds of the acclaimed SOS triple act Desyn Masiello and Omid16B. Representing the Sex on Wax record label, both jocks will play exclusive 3 Hour Sets to keep the electronic freaks bouncing around the room! Last seen at Turnmills as SOS (together with third member Demi) on the roadblocked Pioneer party in January, both Desyn and Omid are two of the most highly skilled and creative DJs on the circuit, and this rare chance to see both play extended sets is definitely one not to be missed!!
The night’s action concludes in T3 where we welcome back party people Meze to The Gallery, having impressed us on their debut outing the other month. With their music firmly rooted in prog, Meze showcase an international spin on the sound attracting clubbers from all over the gaff to get down to their sounds!! The mighty Anthony Pappa has the honour of headlining, backed up by a super strong supporting cast featuring Darien J, Stylistik, Alliance and Alex Tomb.
