The Plump DJs make their much anticipated return to London on Saturday 12th February with a fresh project at the Capital’s most exciting new venue XOYO. Hosted in conjunction with South West Four and Together promoters Lock N Load Events, Grand Hotel at XOYO will be an extension of the Plumps highly acclaimed record label and feature a lineup handpicked by the guys themselves.
The past twelve months has been another insane year for Lee and Andy. Grand Hotel records launched with massive tracks from the Plumps, Bonsai Kat and Dirty Super Car. Furthermore they have continued to play earth shattering gigs across the four corners of the globe as they stamp their energetic sound on the electronic landscape. Fresh off the back of a huge Australian tour with the likes of Justice, Duck Sauce and Erol Alkan, the Plumps arrive at the far more intimate surroundings of XOYO for the next chapter in their illustrious history.
Alongside the Plumps, Grand Hotel welcomes the brains behind Cheap Thrills Hervé and the raw, riotous rhythms of Mumdance. A man of many pseudonyms including The Count (with Sinden), Voodoo Chilli, Speaker Junk, Action Man, Dead Soul Brothers and Young Lovers, London born electro star Hervé is unquestionably a generation defining producer. 2010 witnessed Hervé lock horns in the studio with none other than Fatboy Slim (on the excellent ‘Machines Can Do The Work’) whilst his label continues to set the pace.
Jack Adams aka Mumdance has been responsible for causing serious waves in the past couple of years though his unique sound that draws influence from grime, UK funky, Brazilian funk, Afro-beat and Latin ghetto music. Championed by tastemakers including Diplo, Annie Mac, Sinden and Switch, Mumdance’s stray away from the norm has provided him with a hectic DJ schedule which criss-crosses the globe from Australia to Mexico, North America, to Europe and all over the UK.
Completing the main room lineup is The Kool Kids Klub DJs and Maximilian. In the space of just three years The Kool Kids Klub has welcomed acts such as A-Trak, Brodinski, Fakeblood, D.I.M, Sinden, Kissy Sell out and many more to Southend-On-Sea. In their debut at XOYO, the Kool Kids Klub DJs of Wholesick, Moi and Skum Kid will show why they’re recognised as one of the hottest new talents on the block. Maximilian could be found playing Jungle and dark Drum & Bass back in the day but now you’ll find him playing a great blend of Electro House and Disco. A qualified live and studio engineer, Maximilian spends his days working with Lee Rous of the Plumps DJs before hitting the decks at the cream of London’s clubs and fulfilling his residential duties at The Old Queens Head, The Devil Made Me Do It, or Something Smells Funky where he has played alongside Roska, C90s, DJ Vadim, The Freestylers, and many other established artists. A truly great up and comer, don’t miss Maximilian at Grand Hotel next month.
Room two duties fall to London club night Crooked. Having recently compiled line-ups featuring the likes of Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, Evil Nine, and Deekline & Wizard, they’re no strangers to the big party occasion. DJs playing their room include the winner of ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ at Breakspoll 2010 Richie Balboa, Lee Martin (Dusted Breaks), Leuce Rhythms, Home Alone (Big Square Records), and Honeycombe. Make sure you check them out.
With saver tickets to this intimate night selling fast make sure you book yourself into the Grand Hotel while there are still vacancies!
