In June, One is proud to present the third in our series of showcases, 2 hours of K.A.R.L. Having come a huge way in such a short space of time we felt the timing was right to give him a whole two hours and it just happens to coincide with his birthday!
Before that though we have a exclusive debut to kick things off downstairs. Bella is a well known face on the London club scene and we’re pleased to have her making her first ever public appearance for One. With an amazing ear for the filthiest, dirtiest house around and an ability to structure a set like no other, we know she’ll impress.
Following on from Bella is the legendary Steve Hitch. Versatile enough to play almost any slot on any line-up, he’s a firm favourite with One. With residencies at Spangulation and Ohm he knows exactly what to play to rock the more intimate of London’s crowds.
Then we have the delightful Starlet (a.k.a. Lizzie Curious). Keeping with the versatile theme, this girl can play the most melodic, uplifting trance, right through to the darker, more pumping side with ease. Also a very talented producer, don’t be surprised if you hear a couple of unreleased bits throughout the hour.
Taking over the decks next is this months headliner. K.A.R.L. was brought up on a diet of original superclubs including Gatecrasher, Cream and Gods Kitchen and watching nights move through from techno warm up sets from the likes of Timo Maas and Carl Cox, up to the peak time, anthem filled moments from superstars such as Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto and Ferry Corsten. Without doubt this has given him a unique ability to structure a set and is the reason he always drops the right record at the right time. With influences ranging as wide as Paul Van Dyk to New Order and Steve Murano to Depeche Mode, and a record collection to match, never expect to hear the same set twice.
Then, bringing us some of his own hi-octane trance is Jurrance. Resident with Boundless and Planet Angel and running the Magic Beans record label as well as producing, the man knows his trance. An enormous energy behind the decks makes him a crowd favourite every time and his technical ability, skill and flair means that he never fails to raise the roof.
Closing the night is the final One resident, Conrad. Expect a combination of tough, euphoric trance moving through to hard dance but always with an hugely uplifting feel, he’ll guarantee that you leave the Southside Bar with a smile on your face.
Upstairs we have the second of our debuts. DJ Peludo has played for One in both the Southside Bar and the Fridge and always has the crowd in the palm of his hand. This month we welcome him back for his first ever house set for us which promises to be a real treat.
Moving things along nicely we have the talented Abs back for his first solo set upstairs. His back to back with Pandora S-K in March was huge and we just had to get the guy back down.
Next up is yet another first! Zoologys Future Sound of Elvis has been making a name for himself recently with sets at Peach, Wildchild and the awesome Frantic, we’re happy to have him down for his first ever house set.
Elton Smith was one of our competition winners from last year and played an absolute blinder on New Years Eve. So good in fact that we had to invite him back for some more uplifting, chunky funky house.
Our final resident, Anthony Sergeant, will then be seducing the crowd with a blend of minimal yet tough house and techno. Running Soho’s Mad Records and the Whiplash and Glimpse record labels, this man has access to records like you’ve never heard before.
Finally, to close upstairs we welcome back FunkAddictions FunkyFranky. Pushing house down the dark and dirty route and with an astounding technical ability, she’s the perfect choice for rounding things off in the House Bar.
And all that on top of the usual free entry, drinks offers and promo’s. There’s 2 for 1 cocktails before 7pm and free shots throughout the night. A double vodka and red bull is only £3 all night and there’s 2 bottles of Stella or Staropramen for only £3 all night as well.
We’ll see you at the Southside.
